Excellent Design With Room For Improvement March 5, 2010 TennBikeBerk (California, USA) Overall I'm very happy with this umbrella. It folds up nice and compactly. To operate, you press the button and it expands the pole and opens the canopy. Press the button again and the canopy compresses; from there you need to push down the pole for it to be completely folded. It's a very simple design and it's nice that it open and closes quickly, which makes getting in and out of buildings/cars that much easier. The case it comes with is nice for storage or putting it down in a dry environment without getting things wet.
I can only give this product four stars however because there is room for improvement. The canopy is not quite as strong as I'd like it to be. It's adequate for heavy downpours, but any amount of wind and you're going to wish you had something sturdier. I have not had the canopy fold up on me, but I feel like I have to protect it from winds in order to keep it from doing so.
Case in point: for pure rain, this is an excellent umbrella, but if you're going to be dealing with wind and rain, you might want something sturdier (and therefore perhaps bulkier).
If i had a chance to even use it... February 24, 2010 caliblue125 The first time I opened this umbrella, one of the mechanical rods bent. I closed it, attempted to open again and a spring popped out. What the heck? This was right out of the box, with no damage to the packaging. I expected a decent umbrella based on reviews, guess not!
A question about retractability February 23, 2010 alkmaar Here in California there is not a whole lot of rain. I forgot it's automatic today and forced it open without using the button. Now it refuses to retract, no matter what I try. Anyone had similar experience?
Good value February 7, 2010 Rick Sline (Houston, TX USA) I've owned several of these - the wife occassionally looses them. Seem to work fine.
Disappointed February 6, 2010 R. Bellino (Boston, MA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The umbrella turned out to be too small and very flimsy. Don't even try to take it out in the wind - would be like not having an umbrella at all. I expected much better quality from Totes.
