Product Description COMMUNITY NUTRITION IN ACTION, FOURTH EDITION is the perfect text to introduce students to the program planning, policies, resources, and nutrition issues specific to community nutrition, providing an understanding of creating and implementing nutrition programs from various constituencies (elderly populations, children, impoverished populations, college students, etc.). Successful practitioners in community nutrition have proven to have a mind and skill set that opens them up to new ideas and ventures. Incorporating an entrepreneurial approach, this text encourages students to learn how to take risks, try new technologies, and use fresh approaches to improving the public's nutrition and health status. The text also delivers the core material important to those who will be active in solving community nutritional and health problems, including program delivery, nutrition education, nutrition assessment, and planning nutrition interventions. From the "Case Studies" to the "Community Learning Activities," students are provided with both practical advice and applications to support active learning.

Good overview of Community Nutrition May 17, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I found this book to be informative with many good graphics and photos. There are a lot of statistics and many internet links provided for further information or research.
older ed. vs. new ed February 17, 2008 1 out of 5 found this review helpful
this book seems to be fairly close to the newer edition, but with a couple of difference. I have noticed some case study questions are different. I have really read it that much yet though.
dry as toast November 2, 2006 13 out of 15 found this review helpful
if this isnt required for a course, i would highly discourage anyone from purchasing this book. contains necessary information but is poorly written (does not flow well, authors try to use informal language) and is structured in a way that is not conducive to learning.
