| Editorial Reviews:
Product Description Whether you're the road warrior or stay-at-home spouse, frequent business travel presents distinct challenges to your marriage and family. Many families simply try to survive this lifestyle. This book shows how you can develop closeness and deepen your togetherness--at home or at a distance.
The challenges you face while separated--parenting, keeping in touch, handling sexual expectations, making decisions, and staying emotionally and spiritually strong--are sympathetically addressed here by one who knows what the traveling lifestyle is like. Whether you're seeking emotional comfort or practical wisdom, Keeping Your Family Close holds out hope and help for your unique situation.
Though frequent travel may be a fact of your family's life, it doesn't mean your home life has to disintegrate. Let this book cultivate communication between you and your spouse so that as a couple--and as a family--you may grow closer together, even when you're apart.

A very insightful book July 1, 2006 I have read many books like this and I really like it. The author has captured my interest and indeed keeping your family close is o so important for most of us parents. I'd also like to recommend that you read Untapped Wealth Discovered both first and second editions written by Jeff Marquis and Kerry Harrison. These two editions have very vital info for parents and kids alike and it's a good stepping stone for parents. Good going Ms Hoestra.
Good Insight - From a Strongly Christian Perspective December 30, 2005 5 out of 7 found this review helpful
I bought this book for my husband, when he took a new job requiring lots of travel. While there is lots of good insight to be had, the book has a strong fundamental Christian bias that was not mentioned on Amazon. My husband is turned off by all things religious, so was taken aback at what he felt was a hidden spiritual agenda behind it. We were disappointed that someone hasn't written a book on this important topic without the religious bias. Bottom Line: Great book for the Christian traveler, or those interested in or at least tolerant of a strongly religious perspective. Some good insight to be gleaned, if you can muck through the doctrinal bias. However I REALLY wish someone else would address this topic crucial to so many couples, without bringing in religion.
